The Alure Of The Road...

These next few months are looking to take us on the road quite a bit, which is always great. The new challenges that await within new faces and locations always give you a creative burst of energy. I am on the road later today to shoot a climbing story in Canada and then back on the road just as soon as we can get the images out the door. Hope to be able to share some of it soon...

Taking It On The Town...

I am really excited to have a new portfolio getting printed up this week, it should be ready to head out on the town in June. With a large new body of work from the last year, this year's book showcases lifestyle work that spreads both the globe and industry. With work touching on commercial, editorial and advertising, there seems to be a little something for everyone. Looking forward to having it in shops around the Minneapolis market as well as the states. Be in touch with any questions or to request one...

Taking A Break To Smell The Flowers...

Recently got back from a great shoot in the Netherlands. Shooting in a variety of places, we were on tulip farms shooting the cultivation process and then off the the largest flower auction in the world, just south of Amsterdam (in the 3rd largest building in the world!). Starting to go through the work to get it out in time, and I think we were able to tell a great story. More images, from the tulip shoot and other lifestyle shoots we did while there to come... Sure was lovely to look at...

Personal Project...

I recently shot on a personal project with a basketball player from Minneapolis. This is something I think is really important for anyone in any industry, work on your craft off the clock.
Trying some new lights and lighting techniques, we waited for the right light to come in on a nice spring evening and ended up getting some great content. With a new book scheduled to come out in the next month or so, this was a great shoot and some potential book images too...

Gettin' Down...

On a recent shoot with an up and coming dance group & Vans, we got the chance to run around to some cool locations with great light. This ongoing project has the potential to capture some new, exciting work that I am thrilled to be shooting...

Shining Through...

I just don't know if I'll ever get enough of this...

Advancing Their Brand...

Working on getting another Advance Auto Parts shoot out the door. We were shooting the "A-Team" in a recent on-location shoot. This was the classic "day in the life" shoot that allows you insight into a lot of great peoples lives. The conversation was good, the light bright and the cars were hummin'. Needles to say, I learned a lot about batteries, wiper blades and oil...

Detroit...

Recently got back from being on the road in Detroit. Thought I would share what things look like at times during shoots... crazy angles, shooting through glass, laying on the floor... getting dirty. But if that's what it takes to get a better shot, well then, sign me up...

Court-ship...

Taking a break from post-production the other day, I wandered over to a park near the office and shot a quick pick up game. I am processing a few shoots right now and am really excited about the work that is coming out of it. Spring has brought on some cool, creative work with clients and we've been able to get into some cool places to shoot.

I will be shooting a cool project in Holland in a few weeks, so we'll be running to get stuff out the door before then...

Time Out With The NY Times...

Shooting a recent assignment for the New York Times I found myself in another really cool situation via a camera. The assignment was to document a high school class in Minneapolis that was bringing in industry professionals to give students feed back as if they were working in their respective fields. Their creativity was abundant and I found myself on the floor and under desks until the bell rang, sending us all scrambling into the hall...

Show Me What Ya Got...

One of the hardest things about photography, and making art in general, is showing of subjects in a new way. Things have been done, angles have been tried. Yet there is still a new, interesting way to photograph most everything. A new skate launch for Bauer had us trying to show of the skate in a different way than before. I tried just about everything I could in the time alloted, came out with a few shots that to me read well as hockey...

Walking In Their Shoes...

Recently got to do a shoot for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America following young, potential students around a college campus. The students got to ask all those questions that go unanswered in their school, walk around a real campus and hang out with real students who were living the life they would soon be in themselves. For everyone involved, it was a great way to spend a spring day...

When There Is Not Much There...

I always enjoy the mix of editorial work that comes in along with the advertising and commercial jobs. This tear is from a project shot for a local client here in Minneapolis. It was one of those shoots where you need to make a lot out of very little. So we found an interesting angle and a few surviving plants to frame him in, in the end, it actually came out pretty good.
