Up, Up & Away!...

......... There are some things that are just timeless. Certain places & occupations create photos that could have been taken 50 years ago or just an hour ago. That being said, I've always wanted to do photograph a small time pilot. I don't know why, but it's just always had that "timeless" appeal to me. I did the scout the other day and I think there is a project in there, looking forward to letting it develop and learning more and more about the air up there...

St Olaf & The Thorburn Group...

........ A few months back we enjoyed a week of shooting with The Thorburn Group & St Olaf College. We collected lots of content and had the pleasure of working with a great group of students to tell the story of what it is like to go to school up on the hill in Northfield. It's Launched! New & Improved...

..... Excited to launch a new website. We've made a lot of changes to www.alexanderzoltai.com and could not be happier to share it. The images just seem to jump more full screen. The colors, the laughs, the people all seem bigger and better to me. This is the third website we've had in the last four years and I could not be happier to have landed at this point. Teeeeny Tiny Grapes...

....... Some additional footage from Argentina to be shared in the upcoming weeks. Here are a few stills of the start of the 2014 wine harvest in the world famous wine producing region of Mendoza. Famous for malbecs, steaks and awesome olives, Mendoza sits on the far western border of Argentina very close to Chile. Sights, sounds and smells a plenty, this was a fantastic area to have a camera in...we're out of town at the moment, back shortly...

Shooting Outdoor Gear In Argentina...

Shooting outdoor performance gear in Argentina = awesome time. After shooting at the base of Aconcagua, the largest peak in all of the Americas (almost 23,000 ft!), it seemed only right to grab a celebratory wrap shot. Some really cool stills came out of the shoot, and what better way to wrap a great week of shooting that sipping a nice wine way up in the Andes? Back in town for the week, we're deep into some edits that should allow some cool work to be shared soon...

BTS w / The Thorburn Group...

......... I recently had the chance to put together a great team for a shoot with The Thorburn Group. We'll put out more teasers and info about this still & motion collaboration when we can. Until then, here are a few behind the scene shots showing how this project came together from the ground, the climbing wall and behind the monitor. Lots of different looks to make it work. A surprise vantage point on the last day gave us the finishing touch...back in the USA now, more to come from that soon too...

Bauer Hockey / Calgary...

............ Just a few weeks back we jumped a plane to Calgary to work with Evander Kane & Jordan Eberle for a shoot with Bauer Hockey. They were just finishing up team Canada practice for the upcoming Olympics and took time out of their schedule to work with us on a shoot for the new Apx2 stick. Lots of fun to be on the ice with them, great guys and easy to work with. Thanks to all involved to make this a great project! Getting a great project from the last week wrapped up and prepping to head wayyyyyy south for a shoot...updates to come...

Toronto / Bauer Hockey...

........ A few weeks back we headed up to Toronto to spend a few days with our friends at Bauer Hockey & some of the finest hockey players on the planet. With the launch of a new stick and the start of the NHL season just around the corner, I thought I'd share a few shots to get us all in the mood. Lacek Group / Oglivy / Dupont...

...... Some tears from a project shot for The Lacek Group, always an awesome agency to work with. This project had us in a Minneapolis studio shooting farmers as part of a new pride campaign. Many thanks go out the all who helped out to make this come to life! We're in the cities gearing up for a cool motion / still project next week...

Lovin' Where You Live...

.... I am proud to be living and working here in Minneapolis. I was also proud to be called by PDN a few weeks ago and asked to contribute to the September issue which featured an article about what it is like to work in the Minneapolis market as a photographer. They were kind enough to feature an image along with some quotes. It really is a great place to be and I could not be happier that we work in place that values good creative talent...

Banff / Calgary...

..... Had the pleasure of heading up to Calgary recently for a shoot that I'll fill you all in about soon. Until then, enjoy a few scenes from what we got up to on our day off. Exploring the Canadian Rockies. Deep blues, long sleeves and a heavy scent of pine trees guided us around the park, which is remarkable. We've got a some cool things going on right now and will share what they are as soon as we can. Till then, know that Canada is an amazing place...where else can you get "caesar salad" flavored chips?...

Putting The PARTS Together....

.... Recently spent a week in Roanoke, VA with our friends at Advance Auto Parts. Took slightly more than 34,000 photos as we greatly added to their image library. It was a great project, and it could not have gone smoother. Thanks to all involved, especially Heidi, Robin, Ann, Tom & everyone else on set every day...on our way back to MN from this weeks production, just waiting for the plane to show up...some great new still & motion projects coming up in September...

Awwww Shoot...

................ Shooting here and there over the last month. In MPLS for the week, back on the road soon though. It's a funny thing, making great photos is a game of inches. Sometimes you get down and dirty, sometimes you need to get up just a tiny bit more. A few from behind the scenes of the last month...you just never know...

DC / Chelsea...

...... Was out in DC the other day and had time to go to and shoot a Chelsea soccer game. Have since hit the road and we're shooting in Virginia for the week. Will throw up some teasers from it soon but just had a super long day shooting and need to finish downloading...

The Wild WIld West...

Montana was where we ended up shooting last week. It was hot, dusty and down right beautiful. Some great images came out of the shoot and now I know what an "elbow" sprinkling system is too...We have a trash can full of plan tickets from the last few weeks of travel, so it's nice to be on home soil for the week. We're getting both jobs and estimates out the door before heading back on the road again next week...

Ottawa, Ontario...

...... Can't say what I was doing or who it was with. I was lucky to be hopping around Canada last week and then ended up back in the states shooting out west by the end of the week. Lots of different locations, lots of great people and awesome photography. Will share more when I can, you'll just have to check back...

Country Living...

...................................... A few months back we worked with Olson Co. on a project for Country Inns and Suites. Working to create a library of static images, we documented their new rooms from every angle we could think of. It was a great day of shooting and the rooms looked great! Thank you Charlie and Nick! Posting this while waiting to catch a flight for the third time in two days...will post some images from the adventures soon...

Keep Movin'...

................................... Some stills from a Lifetime shoot we did. It's always lots of fun to create a new library for a client and Lifetime approached us to do just this a few months back. Got to keep moving in there! Speaking of keeping on the move, we'll be all over North America the next few weeks. Going north, south, west, east and even a little bit in-between as projects are heating up right now. ...... Just got back from a week of shooting out west again. Always a favorite location for shoots. This time we were out in Wyoming. Just a few images from a climbing shoot. Got to drive through a blizzard in June, sweet! Batteries are charging as we're back in MN for the time being...

.................... Not able to say what it was or who it was with. But Vermont and New Hampshire recently provided us a lovely backdrop for a week... hope to fill in the void soon...

Round The World...

..................................... I had the pleasure of being brought in by the International Institute of Minnesota to shoot and brand the Festival of Nations again this year. For me, this is a really fun assignment. Lots of interesting dress, food and faces to shoot for an evening. Plenty of opportunities to make some really interesting photographs. There are lots of pots in the oven over here, hoping to share some of the new work soon, stay tuned!

Imagine Publications...

....... A late season snow storm followed us out of town as we headed to Western Minnesota for a portrait shoot with our friends at Imagination Publications out of Chicago. I chose a route that would take us through Darwin, MN, which just happens to hold the world's largest ball of twine made by one person. Francis Johnson worked for years to make the ball, which is really quite impressive. Aside from the twine, it was a great shoot, getting us to an part of the state I had never been, always a treat. Thanks Tiffany!

LIFETIME FITNESS...

....... A great recent project took us out of town for Lifetime Fitness. We had an awesome team from around the country on board for this, complete with a large panda head. Thanks a million to Kristy, Jason, Matt, Drew, Jake, Jeff, Jonathan and the many others who helped with this production. Just got back into the cities last night after a great shoot on the east coast and am looking forward to getting back into the MPLS swing here this week!...

Climb On...

..... Last weeks project took us out west. Updates on the work to come soon. In the mean time, I found myself with a half day to kill before flying back to Minneapolis. Driving out to Red Rock Canyon (not too hard to see where it gets its name), some awesome rock climbing quickly filled the afternoon for me and my assistant. Really cool place, worth checking out. This week we're back in the cities before heading out East for a project next week. Check back soon for more!

Ain't That Sweet?...

....... A recent white seamless shoot for House Of Talents had me shooting jewelry (I think it almost looks like candy!)...not a common shoot for me but really fun to work in a studio context photographing something different! House Of Talents is a really cool company that imports african products from Ghana and Mali, selling them out of Minneapolis. ORANGE ya glad it's Spring?...

........ A recent project took me to Florida for a few days. After wrapping the project, with a few extra hours on my hands, I headed up towards the orange orchards of central Florida. Finding a group of migrant workers, I started to explain "I am a photographer from Minneapolis here for a..." when the worker cut me off saying "no man, these are oranges." I realized he thought "Minneapolis" meant "mini apples," so we switched to Spanish and they agreed to let me shoot the harvest with them. It was an awesome afternoon, complete with fresh snacks as far as the eye could see...

What's Up Doc...

.... MDP, a Doctors Without Borders type of organization, recently asked me to go shoot a project with them south of the border. It was a great project to collaborate on and one with no shortage of stories to tell. I've shared a little bit of the out-takes from the trip, but wanted to post a little of the content captured for the project. The team traveled to seven different locations and were able to do some great work in the short time they were there. Thanks to all involved on the project! Some cool, new work on its way...

Going To Miami...

...... We've got portfolio showings in Miami all week. The books will be splashed all over the white sand beaches of Florida. Get em while they're hot!
